Youth Mentor Position Description

 

 

Position Title:  Youth Mentor  ( Paid Position - Role Is In Demand Based on COVID pandemic )

Service Term:  RSSA Youth Mentoring Program requests a minimum 40 hours a week commitment from its Youth Mentors

 

Weekly expectation: Youth Mentors will typically serve 36-40 hours/week

(flexible days and times); 4-5 hours on one Saturday/Sunday each month.

 

Purpose:  The RSSA Youth Mentoring Program is a one-one mentoring model that develops vibrant communities by empowering youth through quality mentoring relationships.  The mentor will meet one-on-one each week with his/her mentee, 3rd-12th grade age, to develop a relationship and engage in activities that will give mentees new experiences.

 

Description:  The RSSA Youth Mentor will:

 

  • Build a relationship with one child in a RSSA community.

  • Meet weekly with mentee for 36-40  hours and participate in activities the pair choose together (homework, computer training, library visit, etc).

  • Participate monthly in a large group activity or field trip on Saturday.

  • Attend monthly mentor group meeting prior to large group weekend activity. Track time involved with mentee and report hours monthly to Mentoring Program Coordinator once a month.

  • Participate in program evaluations (pre-survey and post-survey). Understand and make a written commitment to follow RSSA policies and procedures outlined in the RSSA Member Guiding Principles.

  • Inform Program Coordinator of any changes in Mentee behavior, concerns, or questions.

 

Qualifications:  The Mentor will be at least 18 years of age and enjoy spending time with children ages 8-18.  Other necessary qualities and skills include:

 

  • A desire to build a one-on-one relationship with a child in a RSSA community and participate in a variety of activities.

  • Good relationship building skills and ability to maintain constructive relationship boundaries with mentee, mentee’s family, and RSSA staff.

  • Tolerance and openness to different world views and sensitivity to other cultures and languages.

  • Ability and commitment to maintain confidentiality and act in a manner that is consistent with RSSA policies and procedures.

  • A general desire to have fun and work with children.

  • Satisfactory criminal background and driving record checks, and proof of car insurance (if using a car).

 

Mentor Application Process:

  • Undergo Mentor Interview via Phone  ( Or other communication means as needed )

  • Provide 3 personal references Complete an interview with RSSA staff

  • Criminal Background, Registered Sex Offender Check, and Motor Vehicle Record Check

  • Complete RSSA Member Orientation Session

 

Training and Support

 

RSSA will provide Member Orientation and a Mentor 101 Training for all mentors. The staff supervisor will provide ongoing supervision and be available for consultation. Mentors will meet as a group monthly to discuss issues as well as receive training on pertinent

topics to support and educate them as youth mentors.  RSSA may require criminal background checks, registered sex offender checks, and or motor vehicle record checks at any time throughout the mentor’s service with RSSA.

Technology Mentor Position Description

Program Description: The RSSA Technology program is seeking a Technology Mentor, who will serve as an instructor to assist with our mission of helping youth choose Information Technology careers. The position is full-time and runs year-round.

 

Role: The individual will act as a coordinator, webmaster, and technology mentor to assist the goals of the RSSA program in the areas of:

  • Website Development

  • Mobile App Development

  • Video Production

 

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Sustain positive relationships with partner facilities and their representatives.

  • Work closely with RSSA Program Director (Manager)

  • Assist manager with assignment and implementation of projects to students

  • Work closely with Program Director and Program Manager to facilitate

 

 

Compensation & Hours

  • Compensation Will Vary Based on Experience

  • 8:00AM to 5:00PM Monday through Friday   ( Weekends Upon Demand )

  • Hours vary for Summer program

  • Background check required

 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates mastery within Microsoft Office Suite (MOS Certification preferred)

  • Proficiency with Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android

  • Excellent communication skills

  • In-depth understanding of program processes and outcomes

  • Ability to engage community members in a dialogue that promotes the organization’s messaging

  • Attention to detail

  • Working knowledge of WordPress

  • Experience using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

  • Experience using Programming languages a plus (JAVA, C, Swift)

  • Ability to use social media, such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter

  • Ability to mentor youth from diverse backgrounds

  • Basic understanding of Mobile Apps and Video

  • Must be able to thrive in an almost constantly changing environment

  • Must LOVE to work with youth

Service Term:  RSSA Office Administrator Program requests a minimum 25 hours an a maximum of  40 hours a week commitment from its Office Administrators

 

Weekly expectation: Office Administrator will typically serve 36-40 hrs/week   ( Weekend work only upon demand )

 

Purpose:  The RSSA Office Administrator Program is in response to the expanding communinty need for both home and office based employment options. 

 

Program Description: The RSSA Office Administrator program is seeking an individual, who will serve as an Office Administrator to assist with our mission of providing high quality personnel services for Private Pay Clients, Subcontract Personnel Services and Facilitate Staffing Services. The position can be full-time or part-time and runs year-round.

We are seeking two (2) canidates for Office Administrator positions. 

 

Role: The individual will act as a coordinator and Office Administrator to assist the goals of the RSSA program in the areas of:

  • Payroll

  • Scheduling

  • Hiring Contractors

  • All Office Admin Tasks
